About the course:
Watercolor is a very rich technique and offers a wide range of processes that, in combination, help me capture what is most important to me - freedom, dynamics, light, and atmosphere.
In the course, we will show my approach to painting landscapes and cityscapes. We will familiarize ourselves with the materials - paints, brushes, papers, and other equipment. We will demonstrate composition planning, tonal study, limited palette, painting on dry and wet surfaces, wash, negative painting, granulation, and other techniques.
The weekend watercolor course is suitable for anyone who wants to learn something new in watercolor. In terms of structure, this course is focused on beginners who do not yet have much experience with watercolor. We will dedicate more time to exercises and brushwork before we start with the motifs themselves.
Instructor: Tomáš Fišera
A few words about the instructor:
Tomáš comes from an artistic family, has been painting almost his entire life, and exclusively watercolor for the last few years. He paints dynamically and expressively with an emphasis on light. His paintings of landscapes and city scenes are mostly created en plein air. He captures his feelings and the mood of the place in them. For him, watercolor, with its fragility and subtlety, is the best technique for these "dreamy scenes" that will stimulate the viewer's imagination.
Tomáš's works have participated in many exhibitions and competitions abroad (Spain, Florida, Singapore, India, Italy, Slovenia, Thailand, Indonesia, Poland, etc.). His work is represented in the collections of private art collectors in various corners of the world. He led, participated in, and co-organized many studio and plein air workshops with international artists (e.g. Alvaro Castagnet, Eudes Correia, Nicolas Lopez, Cesc Farre, Jorge Corpuna, Vicente Garcia, Alex Hillkurtz, and others). He also co-organizes the annual international watercolorists' meeting - Prague Pleinair - www.praguepleinair.com.
He is an administrator for Fabriano CZ, International Watercolor Society CZ, an ambassador for Artikon and the American watercolor paint manufacturer Daniel Smith.
You can see Tomáš's work on his Instagram . Watch the video invitation to his courses.
Recommendation:
We have been collaborating with Tomáš since 2023 and are preparing various courses, workshops, residential plein air events for you, testing the best watercolor supplies, and we are promoting you mutually within the watercolor community in the Czech Republic and abroad. With Tomáš, we offer you the best in watercolor that can be learned in the Czech Republic. Tomáš will demonstrate his painting method in the course and advise you on how to achieve greater ease and joy in your work. His enthusiasm for watercolor is contagious, and you will leave the course with motivation and a desire to continue creating. The course is the first step before you go painting in plein air.
From participants of previous courses:
"I've been trying watercolor for some time and have attended some courses, but from the course with Tomáš, I take away the most useful information about watercolor I've ever received, in a concentrated form."
"The opportunity to watch Tomáš paint, while he explains how and why he creates things, and then to try it all yourself – that's exactly the method that suits me. Moreover, Tomáš has an amazing gift – he can pass on his knowledge, guide, and inspire at the same time, he radiates energy."
