Ovčí vlna je výtvarný materiál vhodný na výrobu jednoduchých hraček, loutek, obalů, obrázků či doplňků oblečení. Pro její zpracování se obvykle používají dvě techniky – plstění suché a mokré. U suchého plstění se vlna do sebe zaplsťuje pomocí speciální jehly. Rychlým neustálým zapichováním postupně dosáhneme požadovaného tvaru a tuhosti ovčího rouna. Tímto způsobem lze vytvořit figurky, brože, dekorace a drobné hračky. U mokrého plstění se vlna zaplsťuje mokrou cestou pomocí mýdlového roztoku. Takto získáme například plstěné čepice, obaly, polštářky či obrázky.
