Grounds and varnishes
Zlacení je prastarou technikou, oblíbenou nejen mezi bohatými vládci. Smyslem je docílit dekorativního a hlavně luxusního vzhledu předmětu. Pravé pozlacování spočívá v nanášení jemných plátků zlata či zlato imitujících materiálů na podklad. Pod zlacení však dnes řadíme také zlacení pomocí různých past, barev či pigmentů. To obvykle nevypadá tak efektně jako zlacení pomocí plátků, je však dovednostně jednodušší a méně nákladné.
