Winsor & Newton je pravděpodobněji nejikoničtější značkou na poli výroby uměleckých barev. Vše začalo v roce 1832, kdy se chemik William Winsor a umělec Henry Newton rozhodli založit vlastní výrobu barev v anglickém Londýně. Zasloužili se o změnu výrobních procesů a celkově zavedení vědeckých postupů do výtvarného odvětví jako takového. Vývoj pak provázel značku po celou dobu historie a zaměření na inovace si drží dodnes. S barvami malovalo nespočet známých umělců a osobností, vyčnívá však královna Viktorie, která dokonce nechala na svůj příkaz vyrobit oblíbené štětce Serie 7.
