Venetian turpentine Kremer 100ml 62010Venetian turpentine Kremer is a blend of larch turpentine and rosin. It is a traditional medium for increasing the fluidity, gloss and flexibility of oil paints. It adds in minute quantities. It is used to make painting emulsions, added to resin solutions or also to fatty oils. Painting mediums with Venetian turpentine give the oil painting the appearance of a glaze and favorably affect the blending of colors in the painting.
Venetian turpentine dissolves after gentle heating in a water bath and can then be diluted with turpentine, turpentine substitute or oil. Extends the drying time of oil paints. After a while it turns slightly yellow. It is not used by itself as varnish, as it sticks for a long time and becomes brittle over time.
The aids are cleaned with turpentine or turpentine substitute.
